148th Modi Jayanti celebrated at Multani Mal Modi College Patiala

Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today organised a Hawan Yajna on the eve of 148th Modi Jayanti. A weeklong academic, Scientific, literary and skill-based competitions and activities were organised to remember the legacy of visionary founder and to pay obeisance to Rai Bahadur Seth Multani Mal Modi Ji. The management committee of the college said that he was one of the leading social reformers in this region who believed in the transformation of society by education and knowledge production.
College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar while remembering the legacy of the founder of the college said that he used education as a medium for bringing social change and to develop a democratic space for critical thinking. His vision is our guiding force and the society should be thankful to him for his selfless service.
During the week-long celebrations, various competitions and skill-based activities were organised to engage the students.
A blood donation camp was organised by NSS wings, Buddy Group and Red Ribbon Club on 14th October. In this camp, 20 volunteers donated the blood.
The Department of Science organised an inter-institutional science fair on the theme, ‘Global Science for Global Well-being’ in which 300 students of 30 educational institutes participated and presented models and posters on the themes of environmental challenges and their mitigations, emerging trends in science and technology, biotechnology and human welfare, biodiversity conservation, Space Science, Mathematics in human life, Chemistry for better World, Health and Nutrition and Computers and Artificial Intelligence.
In the Essay Writing Competition organised by department of languages, students participated and expressed their ideas and opinions on environment disaster: nature’s message, global peace, in the context of changing world politics, the trend of migration and the future of Punjab and the significance of mother tongue in the education field.
The Department of Biotechnology and Food Technology organised a Food Cafeteria dedicated to declaration of 2023 as the year of Millets by United Nations in which millet-based food items were prepared and served by the students.
A special lecture on the topic of, ‘My experiences with the creative writing process’ by Sh. Baldev Singh along with a book exhibition was organised collectively by the Departments of English and Department of Punjabi.
The celebrations started from 16th October concluded on 21st Oct by Hawan Yajna. All the staff members, ex-faculty members, Principal and Management Members Prof. Surindra Lal and Col. Karminder Singh offered samagri to the holy flames of Yajna.

ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ 148ਵੀਂ ਮੋਦੀ ਜਯੰਤੀ ਮੌਕੇ ਹਵਨ ਯੱਗ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ।ਆਪਣੇ ਦੂਰਅੰਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਸੰਸਥਾਪਕ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਏ ਬਹਾਦੁਰ ਸੇਠ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਂਜਲੀ ਭੇਟ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਾਲਜ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹਫ਼ਤਾ ਭਰ ਚੱਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ, ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ, ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਅਧਾਰਤ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਖਿੱਤੇ ਦੇ ਮੋਹਰੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਸੁਧਾਰਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਪਸਾਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਸਨ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਥਾਪਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਆਲੋਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਸੋਚ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਜਮਹੂਰੀ ਸਥਾਨ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਮਾਧਿਅਮ ਵਜੋਂ ਵਰਤਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਮਾਰਗ ਦਰਸ਼ਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਰਸਵਾਰਥ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਫ਼ਤਾ ਭਰ ਚੱਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਕਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ।
ਐੱਨ.ਐੱਸ.ਐੱਸ. ਵਿੰਗ, ਬੱਡੀ ਗਰੁੱਪ ਅਤੇ ਰੈੱਡ ਰਿਬਨ ਕਲੱਬ ਵੱਲੋਂ 14 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੂਨਦਾਨ ਕੈਂਪ ਲਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਕੈਂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਲੰਟੀਅਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਖੂਨਦਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ‘ਗਲੋਬਲ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਫ਼ਾਰ ਗਲੋਬਲ ਵੈੱਲਬੀਇੰਗ’ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਅੰਤਰ-ਸੰਸਥਾਗਤ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਮੇਲਾ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀਆਂ 30 ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ 300 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਪੋਸਟਰ-ਮੇਕਿੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਡਲ-ਪ੍ਰਸਤੁਤੀ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੁਣੌਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲ, ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ, ਬਾਇਓਟੈਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਕਲਿਆਣ, ਜੈਵ ਵਿਭਿੰਨਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਭਾਲ, ਪੁਲਾੜ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ, ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਣਿਤ, ਬਿਹਤਰ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਲਈ ਰਸਾਇਣ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ, ਸਿਹਤ ਤੇ ਪੋਸ਼ਣ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਟੀਫੀਸ਼ੀਅਲ ਇੰਟੈਲੀਜੈਂਸ ਆਦਿ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਣ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਨ ਦੀ ਤਬਾਹੀ: ਕੁਦਰਤ ਦਾ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ, ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਦਲ ਰਹੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਦਰਭ, ਪਰਵਾਸ ਦਾ ਰੁਝਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਤ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤੇ।
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਬਾਇਓਟੈਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਫੂਡ ਟੈਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ 2023 ਦੇ ਸਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਟੇ ਤੇ ਪੋਸ਼ਟਿਕ ਅਨਾਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਘੋਸ਼ਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਇੱਕ ਫੂਡ ਕੈਫੇਟੇਰੀਆ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬਾਜਰਾ, ਰਾਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਵਾਰ ਤੇ ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਭੋਜਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਪਰੋਸੇ ਗਏ।
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਨਾਵਲਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਲੇਖਕ ਡਾ. ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੁਆਰਾ ‘ਰਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਲੇਖਣ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਨੁਭਵ’ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਹਿੰਦੀ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ,ਉਰਦੂ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਲਗਾਈ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਖਿੱਚ ਦਾ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਰਹੀ।
ਇਸ ਸਾਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਜਯੰਤੀ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਮੌਕੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਸਟਾਫ਼ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ। ਹਵਨ ਯੱਗ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸੁਰਿੰਦਰਾ ਲਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਨਲ ਕਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ।
